A major event is set for inclusion in the country’s culture, entertainment and business calendars with the launch of The Greater Lagos Regatta and Festival. The first edition of the event, which is the brainchild of Gradient Hill Limited, is set to hold from April 10— 12, with the support and endorsement of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Organised under the auspices of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the festival is billed as a three-part event designed to be a fusion of business, music, arts, culture and general entertainment.
According to a statement by the Principal Consultant of Gradient Hill Limited, Ivor Ekpe, the event will begin with the Greater Lagos Inland Waterways Optimisation and Business Conference at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The conference is expected to provide directions on how to optimise the economic potential of the state’s marine assets. On the same day, Governor Sanwo-Olu will declare the festival open at an elaborate opening ceremony holding at the Eko Atlantic City.
The second and final days of the event have been set aside for a boat regatta, which will feature traditional and contemporary marine vessels parade, displays and competitions at the Five Cowrie Creek, followed by a family funfair and bazaar as well as live musical performances by top-tier local and international artistes at the Eko Atlantic City from Friday through Sunday.
